You are between 18 and 30 years old and wish to live in France with a host family to improve your French, discover the culture and participate in daily family life. In exchange, you carry out light household tasks, mainly childcare and small domestic duties.
In this context, you must obtain a long-stay “Au Pair” visa, based on an agreement signed with the host family.
JJP Visas Consulting supports you in structuring this agreement and securing your visa application with the French authorities.
Who can apply for an Au Pair visa?
You may qualify for this programme if:
- You are 18 to 30 years old at the time of application and have no family ties with the host family.
- You are temporarily hosted by a family in France to improve your French and discover French culture.
- You can justify either basic knowledge of French, or secondary-level education or professional qualifications.
- You sign an Au Pair agreement with the host family specifying the conditions of the stay (tasks, duration, accommodation, free time, pocket money).
In most cases, this stay may later lead to a “Au Pair” residence permit if the stay is extended.

What the Au Pair visa allows
This visa regulates a cultural and linguistic exchange stay. It allows you to:
- Live with a French family, with accommodation and meals provided.
- Have a private room meeting minimum comfort standards.
- Carry out light family tasks, mainly childcare and small household duties, within a reasonable weekly limit.
- Receive monthly pocket money, generally starting around €320, depending on local practices.
- Attend French language courses or training to support your linguistic integration.
The initial stay usually does not exceed one year, with the possibility of extending it up to two years maximum, subject to a new agreement.
A tailored support programme
To help you with your stay in France, we offer a flexible formula and a complete 3-step assistance.
Step 1: Verification of your Au Pair project
We first analyse your situation to confirm that the Au Pair framework is appropriate. We:
- Review your profile (age, education level, French level, motivation).
- Examine the host family’s situation and the structure of the stay.
- Verify the Au Pair agreement (tasks, schedule, accommodation, pocket money, training time).
- Ensure the project corresponds to a cultural Au Pair stay, not disguised employment.
This step secures the foundation of your application before any consular procedure.
Step 2: Preparing your long-stay visa application
We then assist you in preparing the complete visa file. We help you:
- Prepare a personalised list of required documents (passport, Au Pair agreement, language or education proof, insurance, resources).
- Complete the France-Visas procedure with a clear presentation of your stay project.
- Organise the consulate or visa centre appointment.
- Respond to any additional requests from authorities, especially regarding the host family or the agreement.
Fee for visa application assistance: €600 (excluding visa fees and service provider fees).
Step 3: Support after arrival in France
Once in France, several formalities must be completed to secure your stay. We assist you with:
- Online validation of the VLS-TS.
- Exchanges with the prefecture in case of additional document requests.
Fee for residence formalities: €1,000.
