About Jean-Jacques Pothier

My name is Jean-Jacques Pothier. I have devoted a significant portion of my diplomatic career to managing and processing visa applications at several French embassies and consulates. As a consul or head of the visa section, I was responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and deciding on thousands of cases in a wide variety of—and often complex—situations.

Working at the heart of the consular system has allowed me to understand, in a very concrete way, what makes up the credibility of a case… and this is what may lead to a rejection.

Behind every application, there is a plan for life: a student who is shaping his or her future, an entrepreneur who wants to invest, an artist who wants to develop their business, a family that is getting organized. My role was to assess the consistency of these projects in light of the regulatory framework in France, with rigor but also with the discernment that comes from experience and knowledge of people.

It was this experience in the field that led me to found JJP / Visas Consulting.

My goal is not to circumvent the rules that apply to everyone, but to help each client understand exactly these rules, to identify the visa that is truly suited to their situation, and to submit a clear, well-organized and consistent.

My approach is based on three simple principles:

  • The clarity of the information provided
  • Anticipating the administrative requirements and any aspects that could raise doubts or ambiguity
  • Strict compliance with the legal French framework

Every project is personal. That’s why I prioritize a personalized approach, based on listening to your needs and an in-depth analysis of your situation. My experience within the visa services allows me today to offer a pragmatic and structured perspective to every step of the process, from the initial assessment to the procedures following arrival in France.
